How to prepare and launch a PWA campaign
Treat launch as a sequence of checks. A working install button is not enough: the journey, billing event and accepted conversion must make sense together.
1. Define the offer and the audience
Write a brief with the offer, approved traffic source, countries, language and intended user action. Record which operating systems and browsers are expected. For regulated offers, settle the applicable eligibility and advertising requirements with the responsible parties before launch.
Choose a measurable primary outcome. “More installs” and “more accepted conversions” are not the same target. Set a test budget and a decision rule using your own business limits, not a claimed universal benchmark.
2. Agree the infrastructure and terms
Confirm access to the PWA builder, the destination offer and the applicable install rate. Ask how the service identifies a billable install and which extra charges, limits or technical dependencies apply.
Check whether your required domain setup, tracker, postback or advertising integration is actually supported. A general mention of analytics is not evidence that a named integration is available. Use the provider checklist to make this conversation concrete.
3. Prepare a truthful mobile experience
Use a recognizable brand, accurate app description and an explanation of what happens after installation. Avoid fabricated reviews, fake download counts and app-store impersonation. Localize the actual flow, not just the advertisement.
Define a usable fallback for unsupported installation. The visitor should understand how to continue or return without encountering a dead button.
4. Test the complete event chain
Document visits, install-button clicks, confirmed installations where measurable, app opens and the offer’s accepted conversions as distinct events. An install-button click must not be relabeled as a completed installation. Browser installation events are not universally supported.
Run a controlled test with identifiable test records. Check that the intended identifiers survive the journey, events are not duplicated and the offer report can be reconciled with your tracking. Confirm any data-sharing requirements with the responsible team.
5. Pass the release checklist
- Test the ad destination, HTTPS, language and offer URL.
- Test Android and iPhone separately, including the browser opened from the acquisition source.
- Launch from the installed icon, return after closing and check the unsupported-installation path.
- Reconcile test events and billing definitions; do not send duplicate conversion signals.
- Record costs, accepted outcomes and the conditions for stopping or expanding the test.
6. Evaluate the test before scaling
Use the cost calculator with actual expenses and accepted outcomes. Investigate the largest loss in the journey instead of optimizing one convenient metric. A cheap install may be poor value if the offer rejects the resulting conversions.
Keep the test setup and observations so that the next change is comparable. Installation diagnostics help separate device issues from campaign issues.
